Why the fee model matters
An audit tool can flag thousands in "potential savings" that carriers never refund. If you pay for the tool regardless, the risk sits with you. Paying only on credits recovered means the auditor carries that risk, and is motivated to chase every dispute to a credit note.
Questions to ask any freight audit provider
- Do I pay if nothing is recovered?
- Is the fee based on flagged amounts or credits actually issued?
- Are invoices checked against my own tender rates, or a generic benchmark?
- Who sends the dispute, and who follows it up?
